In this seminar, Magnus Kjellberg, Roger Lampa and Jonathan Arvidsson will present the present, past and the future of VGRs digital environment for health research, with the perspective from the ongoing IRIS project and the AI Competence Center.

Event information

The IRIS project, which stands for Interdisciplinary Research Informatics Services, has the aim of providing digital tools to support the data life cycle of a clinical research project spanning:

– the request for medical research data

– secure data management in line with the FAIR principles

– flexible data processing tools

– long-term storage once a project has been finalized.

The IRIS project moves slow and steady toward a purchase and implementation phase. Meanwhile, the AI Competence Center at Sahlgrenska University Hospital is beta-testing relevant AI-related IT-components for e.g. research and development projects. VGR has recently acquired an NVIDIA DGX A100 for heavy computations connected to secure network storage and relevant software tools, e.g. Jupyter hub data/model versioning systems.

We anticipate that incorporating these IT-resources in a researcher-friendly web portal will be a gamechanger for collaborations within medical and health research at Sahlgrenska University Hospital and partner institutions.

Magnus Kjellberg is the head of AI Competence Center at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. He has a PhD in Life Science and 20+ years of experience of working with research data analysis and AI.

Jonathan Arvidsson has a MSc in electrical engineering at Chalmers. He is a Biomedical engineer at the dept of Medical Information Systems at Sahlgrenska university and is alongside his work in the IRIS-project a PhD candidate within the field of perfusion magnetic resonance imaging.

Roger Lampa, has an engineering background from physics and IT and has been working at Sahlgrenska for +20 years, initially focusing on medical imaging. Today his role is to coordinate the medical device eco-system with regional IT. Manager of the IRIS-project.
