Next Stop: Germany

Recently the Accelerator arranged two events together with partners from Germany. We were delighted to have AOK Niedersachsen (AOK as Germany's largest public insurance company), Hannoverimpuls (Economic Development Agency of the Hanover region and the Metropol region uniting some of the largest German hospitals) and mediq Innovation Experts (Market Access specialists on Board). All partners provided the companies with the opportunity to learn, ask and take away important information and contacts. We plan to bring companies to Germany to deepen the conversation and further explore their opportunities of the market.

Germany is the third largest healthcare market globally and the largest market within the European Union.

The market is not only large it also offers two different attractive reimbursement processes for the outpatient market and one system within hospital.

DiGA is the name of a health legislation which came into effect on Dec 2019. It aims to open up the medical space allowing digital healthcare apps to be prescribed by doctors. In the German healthcare system medication and digital health applications that can be prescribed are paid for by the German healthcare system or insurance. To be able to be prescribed, the app must be approved in a list called the DiGA directory.

There are other initiatives taken to catalyse the transformation to a more digitalized and patient centred care. Take part of the video and learn more about the German market and the opportunities!
