Germany offers significant opportunities for Swedish MedTech companies, but entering the market requires a strong understanding of the healthcare system, local partnerships, and successful pilot implementation.

– We have collaborated with Mediq Innovation Experts and Swecare for several years to support Swedish companies in approaching the German market, says Emma Hallenberg, Director CO-AX Accelerator by Sahlgrenska Science Park.

As recently as last autumn, a similar market access journey was organized with Mediq and Swecare as the main coordinator, where three of our startups joined.

This delegation trip connects three forces that rarely align this tightly in two days:
  1. Clinical innovation lighthouses at Uniklinik Frankfurt and University Hospital of Heidelberg that can transform promising solutions into validated, adopted care.

  2. Industry & capital located in the heart of the German healthcare ecosystem.

  3. As a start-up/scale-up in the health-tech, digital health and medtech space ready to scale into real-world care.

Mediq Innovation Experts brings 15 years of experience and a track record of 55 implemented projects. Through an extensive network across academia, healthcare, and industry, they offer expertise in how MedTech companies can navigate the large but complex German market.

– The collaboration has already shown promising results. For example, Mabel AI conducted a pilot at Sophienklinik 2024, says Emma Hallenberg.

Now, the collaboration continues, this time also in partnership with Swecare and Vinnova. The aim is to strengthen the Swedish innovation support system’s understanding of the opportunities available in Germany, as well as what is required to successfully enter the market and carry out pilots.

By building on previous experiences, the initiative aims to create better conditions for Swedish MedTech companies to access the German market and accelerate the adoption of innovative healthcare solutions.
