CO-AX company Omaia is part of a new two-year project in Värmland developing and testing digital support for pregnant women between scheduled antenatal care visits.

Together with Region Värmland, Karlstad University and Chalmers Industriteknik, Omaia will further develop their app Omaia Sense, designed to support emotional wellbeing before, during and after pregnancy.

Maternity care follows pregnancy closely, with planned visits and physical check-ups. Worry, fear and stress are often left for the expectant family to manage on their own between those visits.

"Together with midwives, researchers and expectant families in Värmland, we now want to understand what kind of support actually helps. We will be clear about what we know and what we don't yet know,", says Nina Larsen, CEO and co-founder of Omaia AB.

The project will explore how the solution can better meet the needs of expectant families and complement existing maternal healthcare.

Omaia is part of Sahlgrenska Science Park's CO-AX Accelerator where the company receives support in its continued development and access to networks across healthcare, research, business development and investment. The project is a good example of the kind of collaboration between companies, healthcare and academia that CO-AX aims to support.

The project has received SEK 2 million in funding from Vinnova and runs until October 2028.
