OWNERS

The park is the result of an initiative by BRG (Business Region Göteborg) and Västra Götalandsregionen (VGR). Together, they set up the non-profit association SBIC (Sahlgrenska Biomedical Innovation Center), which formed, and owns all the shares in, Sahlgrenska Science Park AB. In May 2004, the University of Gothenburg became a member of SBIC and Chalmers University of Technology became a member in June 2009.

goteborgs_universitet

Göteborgs Universitet has over 50,000 students and more than 5,000 employees, making it one of the largest universities in North Europe. The University of Gothenburg carries out research and provides education at some 60 departments in most scientific fields, which makes it one of the most wide-ranging and versatile universities in Sweden. The innovation system at the University of Gothenburg consists of several functions that are either closely connected to or are part of the university. These functions support researchers, teachers and students who want to develop a business idea, a patent or a company.
